Četvrta međunarodna studijska posjeta u okviru Leeway - Interreg Europe Project
U periodu 01.
Fourth International Study Visit within Leeway - Interreg Europe Project
In the period from 01 to 04 April 2025, the Fourth International Study Visit of the Leeway - Interreg Europe Project was held in the city of Katowice (Poland). The aim was to present activities to strengthen energy communities and fight energy poverty. The host of this event was the Office of the Marshal of the Silesian Region - Silesian Government, a project partner within the LEEWAY project.
The two days in Poland were an opportunity to talk about biogas, green hydrogen, microgrids and energy communities across Europe. As part of the visit, a scientific conference on the topic "INNOVATIVE GREEN ECONOMY" was held at the Institute of Mining in Katowice.
Among others, representatives of the project partners, including the Chamber of Commerce of Zenica-Doboj Canton, presented the achievements and potentials in the field of energy efficiency. At the end of the conference, innovative solutions for energy management were explored. A visit to the microgrid system in Bytom was also carried out. Also, energy-efficient construction technologies were presented in the Euro-Centrum Science and Technology Park.
On the second day, the project partners focused on the challenges of shared energy in multi-apartment buildings with the aim of supporting those who are most vulnerable. Energy is not just a matter of technology: its use and development also depend on the implementation of the right policies and the involvement of communities.
The LEEWAY project ("LEading coopEration toWArds energy communities policies tackling energy povertY") is aimed at local and regional authorities that must create conditions, i.e. remove obstacles to the development of communities that receive energy from renewable sources, primarily from wind and solar, and is in line with the European Union's energy goals defined in the European Green Deal, i.e. in the EU Directive on the Promotion of the Use of Energy from Renewable Sources (RED II).
Energy communities based on wind and solar will reduce dependence on fossil fuels, greenhouse gas emissions, and contribute to the fight against energy poverty. As part of the project, study trips will be organized, where local stakeholders will learn from international examples of good practice.
The lead partner in the LEEWAY project is the SIPRO agency from Italy, while the project partnership brings together a total of 9 project partners from 7 European countries, including the Chamber of Commerce of Zenica-Doboj Canton, as a representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
