Adult education programs available to residents of the Zenica-Doboj Canton

EDUCATION LEADS TO SUCCESS!

The challenges of modern life place existence, family security, stable income, and improving quality of life at the top of the list of priorities. The first step toward achieving these goals is education. The right to education is one of the fundamental human rights. Acquiring knowledge and improving skills lead to opportunities for a better quality of life, finding adequate employment, and ensuring a stable future for oneself and one’s family. The Chamber of Commerce of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Zenica-Doboj Canton and the Helvetas Moja Budućnost Foundation, has provided funds for the implementation of certain adult education programs, which are completely free for the citizens of this canton. These programs are organized in specific time cycles. Applications for the programs are submitted via the website www.pkzedo.ba or by email at obrazovanjeodraslihzdk@pkzedo.ba.

Why is it good to apply for adult education programs?

The common belief that education ends with the highest academic degree in one’s early 30s is incorrect. Education is a continuous process, which can be interrupted by life circumstances but can also be continued. Adult education is an extremely important branch of the education system as it represents a “second chance” — an opportunity to secure and improve quality of life, as well as upgrade existing knowledge and skills for advancement and improvement. Essentially, adult education is a prerequisite for achieving self-realization and fulfilling one’s full personal potential.

As part of formal adult education, there are programs for primary adult education and programs for additional qualifications (acquiring a higher level of qualification within the same field) and requalification, which refers to acquiring knowledge and skills that, combined with previously obtained qualifications, enable a new profession. In addition, there are training programs for acquiring theoretical and practical knowledge necessary for performing less complex jobs, specialization for gaining new knowledge and skills within existing professions, and professional development, which includes any form of education after completing formal schooling, throughout one’s career, aimed at improving existing competencies for further personal and professional growth.

Free adult training is implemented as part of the current project activities of the Chamber of Commerce of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, thanks to the support of foreign donors/Helvetas Moja Budućnost Foundation, the Government of the Zenica-Doboj Canton through the Ministry of Labor, Social Policy and Refugees of ZDK, and the Federal Employment Institute.

Any of the listed programs form the foundation for personal and professional growth and development. Acquiring new skills, improving within one’s field of work, or choosing a new path to professional fulfillment leads to complete personal and professional development. This path of growth can begin at any stage of life through the process of education.
