Presentation of the "LEEWAY" project at the Final conference within the "Program of Co-financing Adult Training for the Needs of the Labor Market in the Zenica-Doboj Canton 2025"

The Chamber of Commerce of the Zenica-Doboj Canton has successfully implemented the project "Active Employment Measures in the Zenica-Doboj Canton for 2025" through the "Program of Co-financing Adult Training for the Needs of the Labor Market in the Zenica-Doboj Canton". Program is co-financed by the Federal Employment Agency and the Government of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, through the Ministry of Labor, Social Policy and Refugees.

The Chamber of Commerce of the Zenica-Doboj Canton has been continuously implementing informal adult education programs for 6 years, which include the implementation of theoretical and practical training, as well as the employment of at least 35 unemployed persons, who are registered with the employment bureau in the Canton.

The project was implemented for a total duration of 8 months. The results of the research, previously conducted by the Chamber of Commerce of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, on the needs of companies from the ZDC area for labor, indicated a continuous need for personnel in several sectors, namely: CNC operators in the metalworking and woodworking industries, welders in the metalworking sector, plastic processors in construction, and seamstresses in the textile, leather and footwear sector.

The implementation of the project "Active Employment Measures in the Zenica-Doboj Canton for 2025" has achieved the planned results. A total of 35 unemployed persons have successfully completed theoretical and practical training and have established employment, as follows:

  • 12 CNC operators,
  • 8 welders,
  • 4 plastic processors and
  • 11 seamstresses.

This year, the Program has been expanded by introducing training for the new profession "Electrician". The training program and training manual for the profession "Electrician" also contain a special training section intended for Solar Panel Installers. Within this part of the training program, through professional-theoretical classes for "Renewable Energy Sources", as well as practical classes for "Solar System Installations", candidates acquire knowledge and competencies in the field of green jobs, in order to be as competitive as possible on the labor market. This was an ideal opportunity to present the "LEEWAY" project at the final conference, in order to match these two projects.

The LEEWAY project (LEading coopEration toWArds energy communities policies tackling energy poverty) is a transnational project approved under the Interreg Europe Programme.

The LEEWAY project aims to encourage the adoption of policies that support the development of Renewable Energy Communities (RECs) in European regions, through:

  • exchange of experiences between public authorities at different levels,
  • interregional cooperation and knowledge transfer.

Through study tours, workshops and conferences at regional and interregional level, as well as mutual exchange of experiences, good practices and new ideas, each partner will be able to intervene in their energy policies related to the introduction of Renewable Energy Communities (RECs), and will also act on policies related to employment and growth, improving the well-being of citizens and combating energy poverty.

The Lead partner in the LEEWAY project is the SIPRO agency from Italy, and 9 partners from 7 European countries are participating in the project, including the Chamber of Commerce of Zenica-Doboj Canton as a partner from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
