Implementation of activities within the project

🌍 SteelCityZen is a transnational cooperation project funded by the Danube Region Programme, which unites 11 partners from 9 countries with the aim of addressing a common challenge across the Danube region – the vulnerability of (mono)industrial cities in the process of economic transformation. Cities and municipalities that often rely on a single resource-intensive industry are particularly exposed to employment risks due to structural changes, such as the green and digital transitions.

🎯 The aim of the project is to empower cities and municipalities to diversify their local labour markets and support inclusive and sustainable development. This will be achieved by strengthening stakeholder cooperation, improving coordination between local self-government units and employment actors, and developing innovative tools for local skills assessment and networking.

⏳ The implementation of the project lasts 36 months, in the period from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2028.

🤝 In the previous period, the Chamber of Commerce of Zenica-Doboj Canton implemented the activities envisaged by the application form of the project. Representatives of the Chamber attended all project meetings, contributed to the development of the project questionnaire, and a project banner was created.

📣 Also, as part of its regular activities, the Chamber has continuously worked on disseminating information about the SteelCityZen project with the aim of animating the wider community. The following project activities include specific tasks for the ZDK Chamber of Commerce, with the involvement of as many stakeholders as possible from the Canton's business community.

🤝 During the implementation so far, cooperation has been established with another project partner from Bosnia and Herzegovina – the Municipality of Kakanj, while in the coming period cooperation is planned with the associated partner from BiH, the Federal Employment Service.
