Support of local self-government units in the improvement of practical teaching at business entities
On November 11, 2025, in the hall of the Maglaj Municipal Council, a meeting was held on the topic "Practical teaching - investing in the future", organized by the Chamber of Commerce of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy ZDK, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports ZDK, and the Municipality of Maglaj.
The goal of the meeting was to present the steps in the organization of practical classes (PN) and the benefits that business entities can achieve, to present the benefits for business entities that organize practical classes for students of secondary vocational schools, the dispersion of positive practices from this field to business entities that are not yet involved in the organization of practical classes, and to convey the message that it is more profitable to invest in the formal education of students through practical classes, than in retraining, additional training, training and improvement of the workforce.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Municipality of Maglaj, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports ZDK, the Ministry of Economy ZDK, JU Mixed High School Maglaj, business entities from the area of Maglaj municipalities, and the ZDK Chamber of Commerce.
During the meeting, opinions and proposals were exchanged, and concrete steps were agreed upon for further support to local self-government units in improving this process.
The aforementioned activities are part of the project "Improving the Framework for Sustainable Secondary Vocational Education with a Focus on Green Transformation", implemented by the ZDK Chamber of Commerce.
The project "Improving the framework for sustainable secondary vocational education with a focus on green transformation" is supported through the program "Sustainable Economic Development and Employment Promotion" (SEDEP), which aims to improve employability in Bosnia and Herzegovina by providing support for the digital and green transformation of the economy. The SEDEP program is co-financed by the Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Government of Switzerland, and is implemented by GIZ. Part of the project activities is the strengthening of professional education and training (SVET) with the aim of improving the system of professional education in order to ensure the qualified workforce needed for the sustainable economic development of the country.
